The award has to go to the Wiebers for perseverance. They got stuck on the wrong side of a flash flood and didn't show up till 12:30 am and drove for 5 hours to get there. They put in a lot of miles on the road and saw more of Idaho than they wanted to see in the middle of the night.
Brian brought a new axe with him and entertained the kids with the sharpening process.
The carnival style line up of the kids wanting to play with Darin's new birthday toy. He drew a moose head in the dust on the side of our car for them to aim at.
I love this picture: the sun shadows the pose, everything. It is just so sweet for a little girl to have a Daddy. :)
Seth and his friend John Klaisle. They were born 11 days apart. John is so tall and Seth is so fat. Together they top the charts!
Shannon somehow was able to fit all these fun toys in her stuffed to the gills van. She said she carried some of it on her lap! What fun.
Darin's attempt to have Esther take her 1:oo nap. It shortly turned into trampoline fun although I think Darin looks pretty comfortable and could have fallen asleep if it hadn't have been for the boinging baby jumping on him.
He wiggled his tooth out on Sunday morning. He was so excited he woke up the whole tent. I feared he would lose it in the tent, but it ended up somewhere in the dust, sawdust, rocks, pebbles, pine needles, and dirt on the hillside. He was so sad.
Nathan Cooney made make shift fishing poles for all the kids with a stick and some fishing string and hooks. Amazingly, no one got hooked and no boats got popped either. Of course, no one caught anything, but it was an entire morning's diversion for Nathan tying all those hooks and strings.

Ryan and Shannon, the repeaters from last year's annual Hughes Camping Trip to Sage Hen. They are real troopers being the only ones without kids and still coming and having a good time! She made some great fruit salsa.

Shannon's face tells it all: pancakes with peach syrup, blueberries, powdered sugar, sausage links, scrambled eggs, and fruit salsa with homemade cinnamon tortilla chips. We should do this more often!
Take your pick, you can get some kids smiling but not all, so choose the one your kid is smiling in and enjoy it.
